BODYBUILDER Rich Piana may have gone into a coma and died after injecting insulin, it has been claimed.
Mystery still surrounds what exactly killed the 22-stone muscle man, who built up a huge fan-base across the world thanks to his intense workout regime.
How he died is still under investigation.
But now experts have speculated that the bodybuilder may have died after misusing the growth hormone insulin.
In YouTube video posted four years ago, Piana talked about the perils of taking insulin for novices but praised its effectiveness.
He said: “The thing is insulin works.
“It definitely works and does what is supposed to do.
“And it is dangerous but as long as you know what you are doing, everything can be fine.
“If you know what you are doing it is not dangerous, as long as you are taking the sugar which is necessary to match up the insulin you are taken.”
In a Daily Star Online interview, fitness expert Matt Fiddes believes Piana might not have eaten enough sugars to balance insulin he may have taken before a photo-shoot.
He said: “If the photo-shoot dragged on a little bit he may not have eaten enough sugars to balance what insulin he would have taken?”
She denied he took illegal drugs and said he hadn’t been “overly juicing” before he died.
